Another Wonderful Year Comes to a Close at CLAS

in CLAS

As another school year comes to an end, we are proud to celebrate all that our students accomplished through Chiloquin Learns After School (CLAS). This year was filled with learning, creativity, friendship, and fun, and it was exciting to watch our students grow in so many ways.

We wrapped up the year by taking one of our favorite projects full circle. After spending weeks learning about the Three Sisters planting method, germinating seeds, and caring for plants in the greenhouse, students transplanted their corn, beans, and squash into the garden beds. They worked hard to nurture these plants and are excited to return later this summer to see the results of their efforts. The project taught valuable lessons about science, responsibility, teamwork, and patience.

As the school year came to a close, students also completed another grading period and state testing. Many were eager to share their report cards and test results, and we were thrilled to celebrate their hard work and achievements. Seeing their pride and confidence was one of the highlights of the year.

The beautiful spring weather gave us plenty of opportunities to spend time outdoors. During the final weeks of the program, students enjoyed challenge games, active play, and friendly competitions while soaking up the sunshine and spending time with friends.

Our last day of CLAS was a perfect way to celebrate a successful year. Students experimented with making slime from everyday household ingredients, showed off their creativity during a cookie-decorating competition, and cooled off with water-balloon games. There were plenty of smiles, laughter, and memories made as we said goodbye for the summer.

We want to thank our students, families, staff, volunteers, school partners, and community supporters for making this year such a success. Your support helps create opportunities for children to learn, grow, and thrive beyond the school day.

We are already looking forward to welcoming students back in the fall for another exciting year of learning and adventure. Until then, we hope everyone has a safe, fun, and relaxing summer!
